Writing

This year some things we are learning to do are:

  • Write informational, argument, and narrative essays with reasons or evidence.
  • Organize our writing with a clear introduction, conclusion, body paragraphs with related information and text evidence.
  • Link reasons/opinions with transitional words and phrases.
  • Use precise language and vocabulary.
  • Write over extended periods of time.

Reading

This year we are learning how to:

  • read closely with a purpose to find details in the text.
  • find the theme or message from the author as well as author’s point of view.
  • summarize key details and ideas.
  • examine the structure of the text.
  • find the meaning of words or phrases as used in the text.
  • compare and contrast texts in different ways.
  • make connections.
  • interpret different information.

On Friday's we would like to invite parents into the classroom to either read a book of their choice in a language of their choice. Another option is to do an activity of their choice with the class. Please contact us to let us know if there is a Friday that works for you! 

Remote Learning

Students will be responsible for:

-Watching our Visual Learning Video for each lesson posted ( This video introduces the skill and explains to the students how they can solve the problem)

-Solve and Share problem Students will solve this problem This problem introduces the lesson 

-Quick Check 5 problems- Students will complete 5 problems practicing the skill that was introduced. 

-Exit Ticket/ Quiz This will be our assessment on how the students are understanding each lesson ( it will range from 1-5 questions) 

** I will be available during this time for students to ask questions, model problems using various web methods, and answering emails and remind messages**

ELA

-Watching our weekly video

-Reading texts assigned 

-Responding to short and extended response questions 

-Practicing the skill of the week
